Studio Vuono is a Brooklyn-based ceramic design studio, founded in 2023 by Milja Bannwart. Influenced by Bannwart’s Finnish heritage, the studio embraces Scandinavian design principles, craftsmanship, and the natural world. 

The word vuono, ‘fjord’ in Finnish, symbolizes fluidity and motion. 

Bannwart’s sculptural and functional ceramics are characterized by flowing yet simple and modern forms. The studio specializes in slip casting, following a creative process that involves making plaster prototypes, crafting plaster molds of those prototypes, and casting the final pieces in porcelain or stoneware. Every piece is handmade in small batches.
